Your Community Your Voice

Q. Why are you standing for this election?

A. I am new to this environment, I just felt I had to do something. I have many friends in the area having grown up here and traded all my working life in the ward. I found myself agreeing with friends, acquaintances, fellow shop owners and customers  when talking about issues affecting the area. Rather than just agree I thought I would try and effect change so I am standing for all those people and everyone else in the ward.

Q. Who do you vote for and how will that effect your representation of the ward?

A. Like many I have spoken with I am disillusioned with Westminster Party Politics. I am not disillustioned with this community, left, right and centre everyone I talk to cares about this valley and each other. Nobody cared about who you voted for when we got stuck in after the floods and supported each other.

Support for Local Businesses.

A vibrant local economy is crucial for the wellbeing of our community. Scott supports initiatives that empower local businesses, ensuring they thrive and contribute to our unique community identity. By prioritizing local over corporate interests, we can build a strong and resilient economy that benefits everyone.

Infrastructure

As new housing developments continue to emerge across the area, a pressing concern arises: the lack of corresponding infrastructure improvements. While the population increases, essential services such as roads, drainage systems, healthcare facilities, waste management, and emergency services are not keeping pace.

This disconnect leads to significant challenges, including increased traffic congestion, overwhelmed healthcare facilities, inadequate drainage causing flooding, and stretched emergency services.

The community face longer wait times for medical care and insufficient police and waste collection, ultimately affecting their quality of life.

To ensure sustainable growth, infrastructure development must align with new housing projects. Prioritising investments in roads, drainage, and public services is crucial for supporting vibrant, thriving communities.

It’s time for a holistic approach that balances housing expansion with the necessary infrastructure to enhance the lives of all residents.
